Dear esteemed colleagues,
Research universities really need statistical research data and its research landscape to enable strategic decision making for the university development and reaching the higher ranking on the globe in terms of research aspect. The workshop will explore how bibliometric tools and research metrics can enhance institutional decision-making, improve academic rankings, and support researcher growth. By understanding key metrics like citation impact, h-index, and journal rankings, participants will gain insights into measuring and maximizing the influence of scholarly work.
Bibliometrics and research metrics provide VGU and other participants with valuable tools to measure and enhance our academic impact. By quantifying research output through indicators like citation counts, h-index, and journal impact factors, universities can evaluate the influence of their scholars’ work and identify high-impact contributions. These metrics inform strategic decisions on resource allocation, faculty recruitment, and research investment, while also supporting grant applications by demonstrating research excellence. Bibliometrics can also enhance institutional visibility, contributing to improved rankings and fostering international collaborations. Furthermore, they guide library collection development, ensure alignment with research priorities, and support evidence-based advocacy, helping universities showcase their societal and academic contributions. More importantly, it helps researchers predict and keep up with research trends and innovations to truly contribute new knowledge to the literature and applications.
